Their beautiful Spanish & English performances
have gained rave reviews. Their music crosses all age and ethnic barriers
and they have a dedicated LA following. The band has garnered rave reviews for their sound that
coalesces Mexican indigenous roots with rock, folk and Afro- Caribbean influences and for their high-energy
live performances. Quetzal, the band, finds inspiration in the cultural diversity and experience of its
band members, who reach out to their East L.A. and Latino community through their composition and participation
in community-based programs, developing art classes and workshops for children with the
Los Angeles Unified School District. Their self titled debut album was produced by Oingo Boingo bassist
John Avila and was released in 1998. Their new CD Sing The Real is on Vanguard Records. dd
