During the months of August and September, while I am working on my two music documentaries, setting in a hotel room with the TV on constantly going from Fox to CNN news, and at the same time the news about the wars and the new nuclear fears and threats from Iran and Korea, I am reading about the increase in violence against children. I can not help but wonder if there is not some colliery between the two...like the fall of Rome...Sodom and Gomorrah. Are we in these end times lashing out at our fear of the future and trying to kill what once represented our future...our children?

Is this like the "Middle Cage" in Robert Audrey's the Social Contract, an animalistic reaction to stress and we lash out and kill our own future in this insane manner? Hell, what do I know? I have researched the state and fate of children in this country since 1969, now 37 years, for what that is worth. It never,

never, never gets better and only gets worse, and some years the worse seems to be ten-fold. The past few years seems that violence against children is now in a strange sick way...

Satan, in his hatred for God, has done his best to distort and destroy both of the institutions that God had instituted. To destroy the holy marriage relationship, Satan encouraged people to engage in any form of sexual immorality that would pervert what God had created to be beautiful. This included adultery (sex between a man and woman that are not married, incest (sex between close family members, either by blood or marriage), homosexual encounters (sex between members of the same sex), sex with animals, easy divorce, rape and others, all damaging to the institutions of marriage and the family. To encourage this debasement, demonic agencies in their attempt to be worshipped through various pagan religions, encouraged sexually immoral acts (including heterosexual and homosexual prostitution) as part of idol worship.

In the worship of Ishtar (originally pronounced Easter). fetuses aborted from pregnancies brought about through these "acts of worship" were offered to the goddess. Often when a pagan nation conquered another, they ripped open the pregnant women to offer their fetuses to their god. Baby sons and daughters were offered to the god, Molech, being burned or passing through the fire while loud banging music covered the cries of the babes. God decried and detested all such practices. They were an abomination to Him.

Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) is a serious medical diagnosis comprising of a range of signs and symptoms resulting from the violent shaking of an infant or young child, with or without impact to the head. Signs and symptoms may include such conditions as lethargy, seizures, bruising, vomiting, unresponsiveness and death.¹ Often, there can be no external evidence of injury or trauma.

Prosecutors at the Sonoma Supreme Court in northern California said the charges would have to be dropped after they decided they could not prove the 41-year-old had used a computer pivotal to the case, several media outlets reported.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Disgraced former Rep. Mark Foley said through his lawyer Tuesday that he was sexually abused by a clergyman as a teenager, but accepts full responsibility for sending salacious computer messages to teenage male pages.

Attorney David Roth said Foley was molested between ages 13 and 15. He declined to identify the clergyman or the church, but Foley is Roman Catholic.

A Superior Court judge on Thursday upheld an indictment that charges a Mendham Township woman with having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old boy from the Paterson school district in which she taught.

And in Utah Deluca, 30, on Wednesday was sentenced by 3rd District Judge Stephen Roth after pleading guilty to third-degree felony attempted sexual abuse in connection with sex with a 16-year-old student. Her teaching license has been revoked.

Meanwhile, in Tooele on Tuesday, 3rd District Judge Mark Kouris ordered former math remediation lab coordinator Leslie Baird, 42, to spend three months at the diagnostic unit in the Utah State Prison. She will be sentenced April 17. She previously had pleaded guilty to second-degree felony forcible sexual abuse involving two male students, both 17. She was not a certified teacher.

It is true that male teachers misbehave more often than female teachers, according to state statistics. Hill said that in 2000-2006, the state investigated 45 male educators and 15 females for sexual activity with students.

Jeffery Spurgeon, 19, expressed his first public remorse for the May 2005 killing in the interview that will air Sunday on CBS' "60 Minutes." It was conducted from a Jasper penitentiary where Spurgeon is serving an up to 35-year sentence.

Spurgeon said he and the others beat Michael Roberts, a frail 53-year-old homeless man who lived in the woods, "for fun." He said they were emulating scenes from "bum-rushing videos," according to the transcript. He mentioned "Bumfights," a video series available online, as a favorite.

Two teens were arrested in the brutal sexual assault of a developmentally disabled man who was attacked with a plumbing snake in a Shirley bowling alley bathroom, Suffolk police said yesterday.

The 21-year-old victim was hospitalized at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center, and two Shirley teens, ages 17 and 19, were charged with first-degree aggravated sexual abuse, police said.

The attackers followed the victim into a bathroom at the AMF Shirley Lanes on the Green, off William Floyd Parkway, police said. While one attacker held down the victim, the other forced the plumbing snake, which is used to unclog drains, into the worker's rectum and spun it several times, causing him severe pain, internal injury and bleeding, according to a police news release, which said the worker was "sadistically

CAZENOVIA, Wis. (AP) - A teenager brought two guns to his rural school and shot the principal to death Friday after a struggle with adults and other students, authorities said.

The 15-year-old was taken into custody and charged with first-degree intentional homicide, the district attorney said. No one else was hurt.

It was not clear why the student opened fire or if Weston Schools Principal John Klang was the intended target, Sheriff Randy Stammen said.

Witnesses said the student walked in with a shotgun before classes began. A custodian, teachers and students wrestled with him, but he broke through, took out a handgun and shot Klang three times, Stammen said.

How the hell can that be responsible journalism? To run a piece that's four years old, with zero updates, zero context, zero additional news about what might have happened (or not happened) in four years?

The Seattle that Alisha knows is not a city of social liberalism or glittering scenery. For her, it is just a series of worn-out highways where men will happily pay a 15-year-old for sex.

A slight girl with bad skin and wire-rimmed glasses, Alisha spent much of this year traipsing up and down Aurora Avenue, darting into cars outside The Home Depot or Albertsons and stepping out 20 minutes later with $60 in hand.

All the money went to her pimp, Marquis Smith, a 19-year-old who decided when and where she would work, kept track of her customers, tallied her earnings, beat her intermittently, collected the cash and used it to house the two of them in a series of local motels.

"One guy thought I was 16, but I told him I was 15," she said. "He was like, 'Wow!' A little shocked. But he didn't say, 'You've got to go home.' Mostly, I didn't tell them because it didn't matter anyway."

As a minor and, legally, the victim of numerous sex crimes, Alisha is being identified only by her first name. She is one of a growing number of girls -- some as young as 11 -- who have recently come to the attention of Seattle police and social workers for their involvement with prostitution. Some are from seemingly intact families. Others are wards of the state, on the run from foster homes.

Almost all were initially seduced by a recruiter, often an acquaintance, who dangled pitifully transparent promises of money and glamour, freedom and independence.

At a time when more obvious violent crime is down around the nation, sociologists are debating whether teen prostitution -- or merely their awareness of it -- is increasing. Certainly, they say, sex-for-money deals initiated on the Internet are camouflaging activity that previously occurred in the open.

Nevertheless, the King County Juvenile Detention Center has twice as many girls in its cells for soliciting than it did five years ago, and national experts say Seattle has become a major hub on the child-trafficking circuit.

Researchers estimate that nationally, one out of every three kids on the streets will be solicited for sex.

Often, a man presenting himself as a caring protector is the first. He flatters and befriends the youth, paying for food, clothes and a place to stay until she is easy prey -- financially indebted and emotionally tied.

Part of the reason may be cultural. Where stigma previously silenced discussion, the language of prostitution has now become a pop culture joke. The MTV show "Pimp My Ride" is among the network's most popular. Several young girls who walk Aurora recalled school friends holding "pimp-and-ho" parties.

PORTLAND -- A report to be issued this month says at least a third of downtown Portland's "street kids" are current or former foster-care children who have been dumped by the state, and says the state is abdicating its responsibility.

The report by the Portland Citizens Crime Commission says the abandoned children have no jobs or stable homes and must fend for themselves, and may number about 2,000 in the Portland area. Many gravitate toward downtown.

"We believe the state of Oregon is abdicating its responsibility by not providing needed services that would help adolescents either currently or previously involved in the foster-care system transition to a more productive and stable future," a draft of the report obtained by The Oregonian states.

"Youth are dumped on homeless-youth providers, thus transferring responsibility from the Department of Human Services to the homeless-youth system and Multnomah County," the report says.

Last year, more than 3,900 teens 13 and older lived in foster care: substitute, state-supervised care for neglected, abused or abandoned kids.

Family begs attacker to return Mo. baby

UNION, Mo. Sept. 16, 2006 - A grandmother of a newborn girl stolen from a rural home pleaded Saturday for the baby's safe return, as authorities searched for an abductor who stabbed and seriously injured the infant's mother before fleeing with the child.

"The family's in agony," Raylene Ochsenbine said at a news conference. "Just give her back."

The attacker walked into the home, told Abby Woods' mother "I'm here to take your child," then slashed the young mother's throat and fled with the 1-week-old child.

The baby's pediatrician, Andy Zupan, said the abduction comes at a time when the baby is still adjusting to life. She is already overdue for a doctor's visit, Zupan said, and had been breast-feeding.

UNION, Mo. - A newborn abducted after her mother was slashed was found alive Tuesday in excellent condition, and a woman who had recently miscarried was arrested, officials said.

Dr. Peter McCarthy, an emergency room physician at St. John's Hospital in Washington, Mo., said 11-day-old Abigale Lynn Woods has been reunited with her mother, father and other relatives. She was expected to be released from the hospital later Tuesday.

"The family is elated and thankful to everyone in the community who prayed for them," McCarthy said. "The baby was hydrated, nourished and in good condition when she arrived at the hospital."

US rate of childhood obesity to hit one in five by 2010

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Unless public health takes urgent measures, one in five children in the United States will be obese by the year 2010, the Institute of Medicine warned in a report.

Currently, one third of American children are obese or at risk of becoming so. The rate of childhood obesity has jumped from 16 percent in 2002, to 17.1 percent in 2004 and will reach 20 percent in four years, the report said.

"The good news is that Americans have begun to recognize that childhood obesity is a serious public health problem, and initiatives to address it are under way," said Jeffrey Koplan, who heads an institute committee on preventing childhood obesity.

The committee has held meetings around the United States, including Kansas, Georgia and California, to review public health actions on the matter and has estimated that progress will be slow and in need of systematic monitoring.

The committee said the vaccine series can be given to girls as young as 9. "We're trying to provide the vaccine to girls before the onset of sexual activity, said Anney Schuchat, director of the CDS's National Center for Immunization and Respiration Disease. The vaccine targets four types of HPV that cause 70% of cervical cancer and 90% of genital warts. HPV is the ost common sexually transmitted infection in the USA, infecting 6.2 million each year.

As this excerpt suggests, anthropologists are interested in the gulf between cultural rules and actual behavior, and many ethnographers have observed that incest occurs in societies with prohibitions against incest. It should be further noted that in these theories anthropologists are generally concerned solely with brother-sister incest, and are not claiming that all forms of incest are taboo (these theories are further complicated by the fact that in many societies people related to one another in different ways, and sometimes distantly, are classified together as siblings). Moreover, the definition restricts itself to sexual intercourse; this does not mean that other forms of sexual contact do not occur, or are proscribed, or prescribed. It should also be noted that in these theories anthropologists are primarily concerned with marriage rules and not sexual behavior. In short, anthropologists were not studying "incest" per se; they were asking informants what they meant by "incest," and what the consequences of "incest" were, in order to map out social relationships within the community. There is a new theory, called "emotional incest", which is a milder form in incest, but still very painful for the victim. Incest is usually considered as physical sexual contact between parent and child. But now, according to the new theory, physical incest is the extreme of a general phenomena.

The phenomena exists in a co-dependent relationship, where the "subject" satisfies the emotional needs of the senior, rather than the other way round. A normal parent/child relationship is when the parent satisfies the emotional needs of the child. The theory is that the abuser uses the victim to satisfy his or her emotional needs instead of from a normal sexual relationship between adults.

It is often the case that emotional abuse does not involve sexual contact. Sexual contact can occur in extreme cases, and there are, of course, different cases.

It blows apart the "instinctual" aversion theory of incest. It is the responsibility of the carer not to seek his or her emotional needs from dependants. The "taboo" exists because it is obviously exploitative.

Calif. Autism Rate Doubles in Four Years -Study

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Autism cases in California nearly doubled over the past four years to more than 20,000 -- a phenomenon whose cause may be difficult to pinpoint because it is not related to population increases or the way the disorder is diagnosed, a state study said on Tuesday.

The study, conducted by the California Department of Developmental Services, tracked the number of autism cases referred to 21 regional centers where patients and their families receive government-funded services.

Autism is a lifelong neurological disorder that primarily strikes boys, impairing their ability to communicate, interact and emotionally bond with others. Once a rare disorder, autism now is more prevalent than childhood cancer, diabetes and Down syndrome, the study's author, Dr. Ron Huff, said.

                  drunken driving conviction. He is the oldest of three children. When the search for Danielle began
                  Westerfield initially talked to the media and said he had socialized with Brenda van Dam and two of her
                  friends at a bar that night. He said he had a few drinks and danced with Brenda van Dam before leaving.

Within days of Danielle's disappearance, Westerfield became a prisoner in his own home, under constant scrutiny by the police and media. He became the primary focus of the investigation early on because he was the only
neighbor away from home the weekend Danielle vanished.

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Four children were found dead in the Louisville, Kentucky, apartment of a Somalian immigrant who entered police headquarters on Friday and announced, "I killed my family," police said.

"His statement was, 'I killed my family.' The assumption is that he is the father," Louisville Police Lt. Col. Philip Turner said.

Police would not disclose how the four children, the eldest aged 8, were killed. A woman, believed to be the children's mother, was found conscious but with a head injury in the same public housing apartment.

A girl of four is being treated for stress and depression after she was refused a place at her local school.

Mollie Murphy became so distraught at being separated from her best friends that she had to see a doctor.

Last night, the youngster's mother spoke of her shock after the GP said he would consider a course of anti-depressants and counselling if Mollie's condition does not improve.

"When he said she had stress and depression at first I thought he must be joking," said 26-year-old hairdresser Victoria Anderson.

Although the number of children suffering from depression remains relatively low, experts claim the rate has dramatically increased in recent years.

According to research by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, as many as 40,000 children and adolescents were prescribed anti-depressants in 2003.

Miss Anderson said her daughter started experiencing problems in September.

Due to a lack of places available at East Herrington Primary, in Sunderland, she was forced to travel to nearby Farringdon school.

Since then she has suffered from bouts of vomiting. She also regularly wets the bed and refuses to go to school at the start of each day.

A Schoolboy hanged himself using his favorite football team scarf after complaining that he was being persecuted on the bus ride home from lessons.

Paul Moran, 13, would sometimes arrive in tears, his hair and clothes covered with food and drink thrown by other pupils, his mother said yesterday.

On one occasion his beloved Liverpool FC bag was ripped and on another he was even thrown down stairs, Carole Moran added.

Finally, after speaking about suicide to friends, the "sensitive and caring" teenager's mother found him suspended from his metal bunk bed with his Liverpool scarf, facing a poster of his favourite team.

In a further tragedy, a girl from the same school, Jenny Sykes, also 13, hanged herself eight months later after apparently becoming depressed over his death.

Detectives investigating the schoolgirl's death took away her computer after fears that she visited suicide chatrooms before killing herself.

37 percent of U.S. births out of wedlock

Out-of-wedlock births in the United States have climbed to an all-time high, accounting for nearly four in 10 babies born last year, government health officials said Tuesday.

While out-of-wedlock births have long been associated with teen mothers, the birth rate among girls ages 10 to 17 actually dropped last year to the lowest level on record. Instead, births among unwed mothers rose most dramatically among women in their 20s.

Experts said the overall rise reflects the burgeoning number of people who are putting off marriage or living together without getting married. They said it also reflects the fact that having a child out of wedlock is more acceptable nowadays and not necessarily the source of shame it once was.

The increase in births to unwed mothers was seen in all racial groups, but rose most sharply among Hispanics. It was up among all age groups except youngsters ages 10 to 17.

"A lot of people think of teenagers and unmarried mothers synonymously, but they are not driving this," said Stephanie Ventura of the National Center for Health Statistics, a co-author of the report.

Ga. Teens Charged in Bomb Incident

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Two 14-year-old prep school students accused of taking a homemade bomb to school were arrested Monday, police said.

Their attorneys took them to a detention center, and each was charged with possession of a weapon on school property and reckless conduct. They also face a charge of possession and manufacturing of an explosive device, police said.

One student made the bomb out of firecrackers, gun pellets and metal shavings and gave it to another student Nov. 15, according to a police report. The other student took the bomb home, but took it back to school three days later at the urging of an administrator, the report said.

School officials at Savannah Country Day School kept the bomb for nearly 24 hours before contacting police. Headmaster Tom Bonnell said last week that he should have called police immediately.

Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Wilson said the device was not powerful enough to destroy the building but could have harmed anyone nearby.
