Since EARTH, WIND & FIRE inception
in 1971, founder Maurice White, along with his brother
Verdine and longtime key EWF members Phillip
Bailey & Ralph Johnson abolished the lines be-
tween musical genres, freely borrowing from all
styles of muic without regard to convention.
EWF's innovative, intoxicating blend of sould,
funk, gospel, blues, jazz, rock and dance music
struck a chord with millions of music lovers.
"Head To The Sky" marked EWF's first gold album
in 1973. They became the first Black Act
to top Billboard Pop Single And Album Charts simultaneously in 1975. For years to come,
EWF garnered several
multi-platinum albums & sold-out concerts. EWF have won a staggering
six Grammys and four American Music Awards, while
selling over 20 million albums in the US alone.
