FAITA's trustees continued their tradition of recognizing special individuals or organizations for
their contributions to Native Performing Arts and/or the American Indian Community in general.
Among these awardees were David Froman, who received the Trustees Award and the Tulsa
Indian Actor's Workshop receiving the Will Sampson Memorial Award. The Humanitarian Award
went to The Autry Museum of Western Heritage. This marked the 10th Anniversary for First Americans in the Arts, a non-profit dedicated to celebrating
the achievements of Native Americans in the entertainment industry. The Awards are also designed to
enlist the support and recognition of television, film, theater and music corporations, and to raise money
for a scholarship fund for American Indian students of the Performing Arts.
