Earth, Wind & Fire combines the highest standards of virtuosity with a highly innovative and visionary
approach to showmanship, revolutionizing the art of concert performance with elaborate costumes
and stage effects designed by magician Doug Henning and David Copperfield. Crisp arrangements,
soaring harmonies, impeccable instrumental performances, along with the signature vocal interplay
between Philip Bailey’s highs and Maurice White’s lows, helped establish the group into a worldwide phenomenon – and the biggest-selling act of any kind in the history of Columbia Records. With a
vibrant sound that crossed generational and demographic lines with such radio mainstays as “Shining
Star,” “Serpentine Love,” “Getaway,” “After The Love Has Gone,” “Mighty, Mighty” and “Fantasy,”
Earth, Wind & Fire, the group became the first black performers to headline throughout the world
without an opening act, to receive Madison Square Garden’s Gold Ticket Award for selling more
than 100,000 tickets and to receive the Columbia Records Crystal Globe Award for selling more
than five million albums in foreign markets.
